Full time Assistant Professor of Immunology at the University of Bologna Medical School. Duties included teaching to second and third year medical students and research.

RESEARCH

Research occupied a great deal of my time while Assistant Professor at the University of Bologna. Most of the studies conducted during those eight years have been published in English, several of them in American journals. The guidelines of my investigations can be summarized as follows:

1. The significance of immunodepression in tumor induction (see list of publications, numbers 5, 6, 7, and 9)?

2. Umbalance among different T-lymphocytes subpopulations and its responsibility for tumor growth and homograft survival under certain circumstances (publications 8, 10, 14, and 18)?

3. Enhancement of cellular immunity to very weak histocompatibility antigens and tumor-specific antigens by cell hybridization (publications 12 and 15).

HONORS AND AWARDS

1961 - 1967: Predoctoral awards (7) from the University of Bologna.

1969: Postdoctoral Fellowship in immunology from the C.N.R. in Rome.

1969 - 1973: Annual Scientific and Teaching Efficiency Awards from the University of Bologna.

1971: Honored mention at the competition "Butturini Prize" from C. Erba Foundation.

1972: "Butturini Prize" from C. Erba Foundation.

1974 - 1975: Visiting Research Fellow at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York.

1975: I was awarded a NATO Fellowship for Research on Tumor immunology, which I did not accept, since I was starting my medical internship at that time.

1981 - present: American Medical Association Physician's Recognition Award.
